Samsung has released the second One UI 9 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic to testers in South Korea, carrying firmware ZZI1 and the September 2026 security patch. The update stabilizes the Samsung Health app, resolves watch face switching problems, and corrects an Always On Display bug that showed incorrect time.
At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Xiaomi introduced the Smart Band 11, a successor to last year's Smart Band 10 that trims the device down to 9.99mm thick and boosts screen brightness to 2,000 nits from 1,500 nits. The tracker keeps its 1.72-inch, 212x520 pixel display and offers metal or ceramic casing options, along with new color choices, HyperOS 4 software, 5ATM water resistance, and claimed improvements to heart rate and SpO2 sensing.
Fusion startup Realta Fusion signed a deal with utility Madison Gas and Electric to explore building a 200-megawatt fusion power plant in Wisconsin by the mid-2030s. The utility also made an undisclosed equity investment in Realta, which is converting a former Oscar Mayer factory in Madison into its research facility.
Meta introduced a new pricing tier for its Muse Spark model, built for coding and other agentic tasks, that slashes token costs by roughly 95% for developers who agree to let their prompts and outputs be used to train future versions. Standard pricing runs $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, compared to just 10 cents and 20 cents respectively under the data-sharing plan. The move follows a scrapped internal program at Meta that tracked employee computer activity for training data, which was shelved in June after backlash.
At IFA 2026, Lenovo unveiled two premium Android tablets, the Yoga Tab Gen 2 and Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2, both featuring 144Hz 4K displays, stylus support, and last year's flagship chips from MediaTek and Qualcomm respectively. Pricing starts at $729 for the standard model and $999.99 for the Plus variant, and both ship with Android 17 alongside a promised seven major OS upgrades.
Motorola has released a special-edition Razr 2026 covered in 35 individually placed Swarovski crystals, plus a larger 32-facet crystal embedded in the hinge, finished in a dark PANTONE Meteorite color with a quilted leather-like texture. It costs $900, which is $100 less than last year's Swarovski Razr though $100 more than the base Razr 2026, and Motorola is temporarily bundling in Moto Buds 2 Plus earbuds and a Moto watch.
At IFA 2026, Lenovo unveiled Project Swan, a thin-and-light concept laptop whose display can widen from 14 to 17 inches at the push of a button. Unlike its earlier rollable gaming laptop concept, this is a productivity-focused notebook weighing 3.5 pounds and measuring 17.9mm thick, with a full keyboard, large touchpad, webcam and speakers.
At IFA, Lenovo unveiled a wave of new hardware, including RTX Spark-powered Yoga laptops aimed at creative professionals and an affordable, colorful IdeaPad Vibe series targeting students and budget buyers. The Vibe starts at $700, matching the MacBook Neo's price, but ships with only 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD, and Lenovo confirmed there's no student discount planned for it.

Google DeepMind and Google Research launched WeatherNext 3, a deep-learning forecasting model that outperformed rival AI systems from Microsoft, Nvidia and ECMWF, as well as traditional forecasts from the US National Weather Service and ECMWF, on the Operational WeatherBench benchmark. Google says the model will soon power weather data shown in Search, Maps and Gemini, and will also be offered to researchers and developers through its cloud platform.

The range includes a 5,000mAh magnetic model just 8.8mm thick priced at $64.99, and a 10,000mAh version with a status display and 60W output for $79.99. Alongside these, Belkin also revealed cross-platform SureFind trackers and a magnetic ring stand compatible with Pixel 9 and 10 phones.
YouTube has rolled out a companion feature that syncs its mobile app with whatever video is playing on a TV, as long as both devices are signed into the same account. Users can comment, subscribe, search, or browse Shorts on their phone without interrupting the video on screen, and can send videos to the TV directly. The two devices don't even need to share the same Wi-Fi network.
