Acer
TL;DR Acer has announced the Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box.
The gadget includes USB-A connectivity, an Ethernet port, a microSD card slot, and an S/PDIF Optical Audio port.
The new streaming box has only launched in South Africa for now and costs ~$80.
Update: August 31, 2025 (1:30 AM ET): Acer Africa has now issued corrections to its original press release, and its Google TV box is a little less impressive than it originally claimed.
The company told Android Authority that the Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box has 2GB of RAM rather than 3GB. It added that the device ships with an Amlogic S905X5M chipset rather than the previously stated S905X5 processor. It notes that this chip doesn’t have a 4 TOPs TPU, either. However, the firm also says you can expect 32GB of internal storage.
In any event, these corrections mean the company’s new streaming box isn’t quite as capable as it first noted. However, the variety of ports and ample internal storage are still welcome perks.
Original article: August 29, 2025 (9:12 AM ET): Acer isn’t exactly a company you associate with Google TV boxes, but the company has now launched a rather impressive streaming box. Say hello to the Acer 4K UHD Google TV Box, or AiTV.
The Acer Google TV Box stands out as it offers a wide variety of ports. Expect HDMI (no surprise here), USB-C, USB-A, an Ethernet port, and a microSD card slot. The new TV box even includes an S/PDIF Optical Audio port if you prefer this solution for audio. It’s also worth noting that the device has a separate power input, freeing up the USB-C port for other uses.
