When you open your Netflix app, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the number of shows to choose from. All that choice can make it hard to figure out what to stream -- we've all done the infinite scroll, spending an hour looking for something before just giving up and watching old episodes of Seinfeld. That's why we've handpicked some of the most entertaining shows on the platform, including beloved favorites like Sex and the City and Brooklyn Nine-Nine along with newer series such as Ginny & Georgia or The Residence.

Netflix Squid Game (2021 -) This thriller was all anyone talked about when it debuted, and for good reason. Hundreds of people in desperate need of cash compete in a series of games that become a fight for survival. If you can handle the grotesque and gory themes throughout this show, it's an enthralling watch. The third and final season will arrive on the streamer on June 27, so now is a great time to catch up on old episodes.
Netflix Ginny & Georgia (2021 -) Ginny & Georgia is... well, either a darkly funny drama or a dramatic comedy -- with a dash of murder. However you look at it, it's addictive, soapy fun. The show stars Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey as the titular mother-daughter duo who, along with Ginny's brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca) relocate to a quaint New England town after Georgia's wealthy husband dies. Despite some of the on-paper similarities, this show is no Gilmore Girls, as we learn that Georgia's running from a past filled with abuse, trauma and murder. Season 3 arrived on Netflix last week, so there's plenty of juicy drama to binge.
Max Insecure (2016 - 2021) Insecure first premiered on HBO back in 2016, introducing many of us to the comedic talents of Issa Rae, who created and starred in the show, Yvonne Orji, Amanda Seales and White Lotus star Natasha Rothwell. Thanks to its sharp comedic writing, the series gained a devoted following throughout its five seasons for its depiction of friendships, work and relationships through the eyes of Black women. Back in 2023, it was the first HBO series to arrive on Netflix, and after two years on the platform, it will be removed on July 3, 2025, so catch it while you can!
Netflix The Diplomat (2023 -) Political drama The Diplomat, which stars Keri Russell as an American diplomat named Kate Wyler in London, returned this fall with its second pulse-pounding season. The show's first season, which premiered in 2023, is eight episodes, and Season 2 is even shorter, coming in at six episodes, making it the perfect weekend binge if you're looking for a show that combines action-packed international intrigue and political thrills with soapy marital drama. Now is the perfect time to check out The Diplomat if you haven't already, because the Season 3 premiere was just confirmed for fall 2025.
Netflix Wednesday (2022 -) Jenna Ortega stars in Netflix's Wednesday, a modern take on the life of one of the most morbid teens in pop culture history, Wednesday Addams. The series, executive produced and occasionally directed by Tim Burton, quickly became one of the most popular shows on Netflix when it premiered in 2022. This week, Netflix not only dropped the first clip from Wednesday season 2, but it also announced premiere dates: The new season will be split in two, with Part 1 premiering on Aug. 6, and Part 2 on Sept. 3.
Getty Images Sex and the City (1998-2004) And Just Like That... is back with new episodes on HBO Max this summer. But if you're craving some late '90s nostalgia (and Kim Cattrall), you can find all six seasons of Sex and the City, the show that started it all, on Netflix. The series follows sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends in New York City. It was a cultural touchstone for a minute there, so whether you've never watched or want to be reminded of a different era when Louboutins became a whole thing and everyone still smoked in bars, you won't want to miss the iconic original show.
Netflix Stranger Things (2016 -) Stranger Things is an enthralling medley of horror, drama and nostalgia. Set in the 1980s in fictional small-town Indiana, residents begin experiencing a series of odd events, including the disappearance of a young boy, and begin to search for answers. After months (actually, years) of speculation, Netflix finally confirmed last week that the final season of the show will be back this fall with four episodes on Nov. 26, three episodes on Christmas Day, and the finale episode on New Year's Eve. The holidays are about to get turned upside down.
