Today, Apple is set to launch iPadOS 26: an incredible new overhaul for the iPad. It brings a Mac-like windowing system, a new Menu bar, the ability to pin folders to the dock, and much, much more.

It makes the iPad feel like a computer for the very first time, making it a better time than ever to pick up a new iPad to pair with the new release.

Luckily, unlike some previous iPad software releases – all iPads running iPadOS 26 will support the new windowing and multitasking systems. Obviously, newer hardware will run it better, but at least you aren’t boxed into buying an iPad Pro like you previously might’ve been.

Apple’s iPad lineup is also stronger than ever. All iPad models start with at least 128GB of storage, preventing the need for additional storage upgrades for most people – and the lineup is rather easy to understand.

iPad 11

If you’re just looking for the most affordable iPad that’ll do the job, the iPad 11 is more than sufficient. It’s my personal iPad choice. It packs an A16 Bionic and 6GB of unified memory, giving it plenty of performance and the capability to handle all of iPadOS 26’s features.

It’s available for just $299 on Amazon in the 128GB config. If you’d like additional storage, 256GB will fetch you $399.

iPad Air

iPad Air is the de-facto middle choice in the iPad lineup. Slightly more expensive than the iPad 11, but you get an M3 chip, a laminated display, support for Apple Pencil Pro, and a proper Magic Keyboard experience.
