Without saying the word “gothic,” Guillermo del Toro recently told Empire he “needs[s] a change” from “a certain type of aesthetic” that’s marked his career to this point.
This movie closes the cycle. If you look at the lineage, from Cronos to The Devil’s Backbone, to Pan’s Labyrinth to Crimson Peak to this, this is an evolution of a certain type of aesthetic, and a certain type of rhythm, and a certain type of empathy. Scream 7
After previously reporting as such, Entertainment Weekly has now retracted its statement that Hayden Panettiere will appear in Scream 7, adding, “Her involvement has not been confirmed.”
Insidious 6
Deadline reports Laura Gordon has joined the cast of Insidious 6 in a currently undisclosed role.
R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead
THR reports Bean Reid, Adeline Lo, Kevin McNulty, Bob Frazer, Matty Finochio, and Seth Isaac Johnson will star in R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, a feature adaptation of Stine’s short story, which was previously adapted into an episode of The Haunting Hour. Directed by Jem Garrard (Slay), the story “centers on teenage Sam, whose family’s move to Redhaven is made worse when his brother Finn disappears—and no one else remembers that he existed.” The film is slated to debut on Tubi this October 17.
