Today we’re launching a better reading experience for you. Gizmodo is now cleaner, faster, and will work much better on your phone. We’ve also improved our commenting system to allow you to more easily join the conversation with us and with each other.
Since Gizmodo’s launch more than two decades ago, our editorial values have remained unchanged. We strive to hold power to account and to embrace curiosity about the underpinnings of the world we live in. Over the years, we’ve taken big swings at the major players in technology, run honest reviews of the devices in your pocket, and brought you the human impact of even the most technical advances in the science world.
And through io9, we’ve become a place where genre lovers can find unmatched, in-depth coverage of the shows, films, and characters they love. (And argue about them all in the comments.)
Now this redesign makes it easier for you to jump into the conversation. Stories are better framed for discovery, so you can more easily find the topics that matter to you. Commenting, sharing, and engaging are all smoother.
The Gizmodo and io9 comments have always been clever, boisterous, and sometimes brutal. We know that your engagement with our work makes Gizmodo more accountable and more interesting, and the new site’s design choices reflect that.
That emphasis on community and accountability is crucial to our work.
It’s a time of technological and political upheaval. New forms of digital power are reshaping how we live, work, and exist in our communities. Online misinformation was already spreading faster than research to debunk it was funded. Now, much of that essential scientific funding is itself under threat.
The stakes continue to rise for honest, rigorous, and independent coverage. And we’re here to meet that challenge. The impact of technology is never neutral, and neither are we.
Thanks for joining us. And welcome to the new site.
