MagSafe batteries are one of my favorite types of accessories because they let you keep your iPhone charged without needing to find a wall adapter (verbal meme: zombies, but it’s tech people looking for a wall plug) The new CP12 MagSafe Power Bank has a 10,000mAh battery, offers 20W wired charging, 7.5W MagSafe charging, and even includes a built in cable for when you want to charge a bit faster. It is not the slimmest battery, but it gives you plenty of flexibility for travel, commuting, or just making sure your iPhone lasts all day.

Design and build quality

The CP12 is not a tiny MagSafe battery at all, but it feels very well built. The magnetic attachment is strong enough to stay in place once it snaps onto your iPhone. The manufacturer says it is rated to hold up to 1000g, which is more than five times the weight of an iPhone 16. It feels secure enough to use while walking around or scrolling on the couch. The braided cable is a nice touch as well, and it feels more durable than a standard cable.

The CP12 does add some bulk, especially compared to smaller 5,000mAh MagSafe batteries, but the tradeoff is that you get a lot more capacity. If you want one battery pack to get you through travel days or long commutes, this size makes sense. If you need something for the afternoon, there are different options. There is a world where you end up with multiple types and sizes of MagSafe batteries.

Charging performance

The CP12 supports 7.5W MagSafe charging for MagSafe and Qi wireless devices. It works well for keeping your iPhone topped up throughout the day, but it’s not the fastest out there. One nice benefit of the slower speed is that it helps manage heat, so the phone should not trigger the overheated alert as much. Especially during the summer, I would see that alert a lot if I was outside all day.

The built-in cable gives you up to 20W, which makes a noticeable difference when you want to quickly add battery before heading out the door. It also supports 20W input charging, so the battery itself can recharge quickly when plugged in. Again, it’s not what I want to do daily, but I love having the option. If I am low on battery and outside in the heat, I might opt to use the wired option for speed, but if I am on an airplane, I’ll be fine with the MagSafe charging option. The cable is also nice for charging a Nintendo Switch, AirPods Pro, or other devices.
