OpenAI is rolling out an interesting ChatGPT integration with multiple apps and platforms, ahead of a broader rollout later this year. Here’s how it works. You can now chat with apps in ChatGPT In a short demo of the feature posted on YouTube, OpenAI showcases a few examples of how Free, Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers outside of the EU can now interact with multiple apps right from their conversation with ChatGPT: Right now, the integration works in English with Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow in the markets where these companies operate. With the Spotify integration, users of the Premium and Free Spotify plans can connect their accounts, and have ChatGPT suggest podcasts, build playlists, and more, based on genre, mood, or artist, simply by starting their prompt with “Spotify, …”. Here’s Sten Garmark, Spotify’s SVP of Global Head of Consumer Experience, on today’s news: “Spotify’s vision has always been to be everywhere you are. By bringing Spotify into ChatGPT, we’re creating a powerful new way for fans to connect with the artists and creators they love conversationally, whenever inspiration strikes.” When it comes to the Canva integration, users can upload files such as text documents and have ChatGPT and Canva work together to turn them into presentations, pitch decks, posters, and more. Meanwhile, with the Expedia and Booking integrations, users can quickly plan trips by refining search results in natural language, viewing results in a map or carousel, and more. Alongside support for its initial pilot partners, OpenAI today launched a preview of its new Apps SDK, with broader third-party developer access planned for later this year. Built on Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the SDK lets developers create custom integrations with ChatGPT. Documentation is available here. Which apps would you like to use with ChatGPT?
