Apple's AirPods Pro are perennial Prime Day stars for good reason. We almost always see a killer deal on a pair of AirPods Pro during Amazon's special sales events, and this year's Prime Big Deal Days are no different. The previous-generation AirPods Pro 2 are getting a satisfyingly steep discount down to $170. This isn't the best deal we've seen on the Pro 2 (it's $20 short of that mark), but it is a hefty price cut worth jumping on, especially if you're not interested in forking out $249 to land the AirPods Pro 3. If you're after more deals, don't forget to check out our Absolute Best Prime Big Deal Days roundup and our Prime Day Liveblog for up-to-the-minute sales on all of our favorite things, all tested and approved by WIRED staff. Apple's last-gen AirPods Pro still feel a lot like new earbuds, and their performance and features best plenty of the best earbuds we test. A big part of that is the Pro 2's H2 chipset, which provides enough robust computing power to run point inside the new, more advanced AirPods Pro 3. The Pro 2 have always had excellent noise canceling and a natural-sounding transparency mode, letting you effectively shut out or let in the world around you. They also arrived with plenty of features, including conveniences like Apple's advanced Find My feature, the ability to seamlessly swap between iCloud devices, and access to Apple's Siri assistant on command. That's not to mention their clear and detailed sound quality. What makes the Pro 2 special is that they've continued to advance as they age, adding options like the ability to adjust their sound and noise canceling to your environment and even transform into over-the-counter hearing aids. You'll get higher performance from the latest AirPods Pro, including enhanced noise canceling, a more sport-ready fit thanks to new (and more) ear tips, and even a heart rate sensor that can work alongside the one in your Apple Watch. Even so, for most of us, the AirPods Pro 2 offer enough performance, convenience, and basic comfort to make them a great choice, especially at a price well below $200. If you're on the fence and you prefer the latest and greatest technology, I suggest going for the newer pair. Otherwise, it's hard to argue with a deal like this on a pair that still ranks among the top earbuds we've tested. Power up with unlimited access to WIRED.
