Things have been going well for anime fans lately, with hit shows, the Demon Slayer movie, the upcoming Chainsaw Man film about to hit theaters and news that Oshi no Ko Season 3 will stream on Crunchyroll next year. As you breeze through some of your favorite holdovers from the summer (like Gachiakuta), fall anime is calling for your attention.
There are enough titles to spread the love across streaming services -- with a couple of surprises on Disney Plus -- and we've only picked a small selection here of TV series that you should absolutely put on your watchlist. If you want to mix things up, don't forget that there are platforms that offer free anime, too.
Disney/Yumeta Company/Graphinica Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Animation From Disney Japan comes this anime adaptation of a popular video game of the same name. Twisted-Wonderland is set at Night Raven College, a magic school with dorms based on seven different Disney villains. When Yuken Enma -- a regular Tokyo high school kid -- arrives at the campus after being transported through a magical mirror, he's not really welcome as an outsider. As he adjusts to this environment while trying to find his way home, a threat is imminent: the ire of the Rose-Red Tyrant, Riddle Rosehearts. The series premieres on Hulu and Disney Plus on Oct. 29. Spy x Family, season 3
This comedy favorite returned with a new installment on Oct. 4, and you can watch each Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on Crunchyroll or Hulu. This time, Spy x Family sends Loid on an infiltration mission inside a prestigious school so he can track a target. Anya is in for it at school, but her fake parents (Loid and Yor) may actually wind up having to rescue her and her classmates this season.
My Hero Academia, final season
I'm not crying, you're crying. After watching Deku and all the other kid heroes battle villains for years, Season 8 will bring the saga to a close. While the young (and beloved) defender will have the One For All Quirks in his match-up against Shigaraki, fans may worry about what's to come in the showdown between All For One and the quirk-free All Might. Don't miss a single episode of the final season as they stream each Saturday on Crunchyroll. (You can also watch on Hulu).
Gachiakuta
Continue streaming Gachiakuta every Sunday at 11 a.m. ET throughout the fall season. Kei Urana's manga comes to life in this anime about Rudo, an orphan wrongfully accused and convicted of murder. Tossed away into the Pit, an abysmal garbage-filled hellscape where the island's poor and dejected people are dumped, he encounters a world where humans fight trash monsters while plotting revenge against the upper class on the island they call home. Watch the series on Crunchyroll.
Shogakukan Shueisha Productions/MAPPA/Ranma 1/2 Production Committee Ranma 1/2 We love a chaotic, yet hilariously entertaining anime like Ranma 1/2. Season 2 debuted its first episode on Netflix on Oct. 4, and this installment will see more of Akane and Ranma dealing with nonsense at the dojo, like a fiancée whose weapon of choice is a spatula and a lewd sensei. Oh, there's a bit of romance, too, in this adaptation of the '80s (and '90s) manga. New episodes hit Netflix each Saturday. See at Netflix
