When it comes to using MagSafe in the car, I want something that keeps my iPhone charged. My wife, on the other hand, does not. She just wants the dock portion. If you don’t need or want charging while you drive, a magnetic mount is one of the best accessories you can add. Design and stability
The big selling point for this mount is the magnet strength. Lamicall uses 20 upgraded N52 magnets that can hold over 4 pounds. That is far more than an iPhone weighs even with a case, so it’s stable even when hitting potholes or making sharp turns around windy roads. The reinforced metal vent hook is also a step up from plastic designs that can snap or loosen over time. Once you lock it in place, it is not moving until you take it out. Frankly, this is the best design for a vent mount I’ve seen.
Another plus is the Lamicall MagSafe Car Mount’s compact design. It does not block airflow much (nor does it need to be kept cool while charging), and the rubber padding helps protect your phone from scratches. It is simple and strong, which is what you want in a car mount if you don’t want charging functionality.
Everyday use
One of the main reasons I prefer magnetic car mounts over clamp-style ones is convenience. Frankly, you don’t go back once you go MagSafe in the car. The ball joint in Lamicall’s MagSafe Car Mount also rotates 360 degrees, so you can go from portrait to landscape in seconds. That makes it great for GPS directions when you do not have CarPlay (which I still don’t).

If you are not using a smartphone that supports magnetic mounting, Lamicall includes a magnetic ring that works with other phones or non-MagSafe cases. This is a nice option if you share the car with someone who does not use an iPhone. Even if you have an iPhone, it’ll be useful if you have a case that doesn’t allow MagSafe to work.
