The market for third-party iMessage apps has largely dried up, but Apple seems keen to keep it going. Over the weekend, the company debuted a new iMessage sticker pack for its Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch.
Sneaky Sasquatch gets Apple-made iMessage app
Remember when iMessage apps were more of a thing? Within Apple, it seems, there’s still effort being put into developing iMessage sticker packs.
This weekend the company debuted a brand new iMessage app, as spotted by Aaron Perris.
Sneaky Sasquatch Sticker Pack is now available on the App Store as a free download.
It was inspired by the hit Apple Arcade title, Sneaky Sasquatch.
The sticker pack offers over 50 iMessage stickers themed to the game, many of which feature the titular Sneaky Sasquatch expressing a variety of standard emoji-style emotions.
Why would Apple develop and release a sticker pack for an Arcade title? Because it recently became the owner of that very game.
Apple Arcade’s game library is almost entirely made up of third-party titles. And Sneaky Sasquatch originated as a third-party offering, but earlier this year Apple acquired RAC7, the two-person developer team behind it.
At the time, Apple indicated it was a “unique circumstance, as it saw an opportunity to help the team grow its game more on Apple Arcade.”
