Rumors indicate Apple will launch its first ever foldable iPhone next year, and a new leak has revealed what to expect from the new model’s battery capacity.

Apple testing biggest iPhone battery ever for iPhone Fold

Leak aggregator yeux1122 posted recently about the battery capacity currently being tested for the iPhone Fold. Here’s an excerpt translated into English:

Higher capacity than the 17 Max is currently confirmed. Testing is currently underway at around 5400-5800 mAh.

The post notes that iPhone Air was initially tested in a range that maxed out at 3000 mAh, but the final product was closer to 3149.

It’s very possible, then, that the iPhone Fold could hit or get close to 6000 mAh.

For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max currently has the largest battery ever in an iPhone. But even in its eSIM-only version, it’s just past the 5000 mAh mark.

Of course, the iPhone Fold has the challenge of powering an overall larger display.

The latest rumors indicate iPhone Fold’s inner display will measure about 7.58 inches—up from the 6.9 inches of iPhone 17 Pro Max. Heavy use of the larger screen could drain battery faster.

Then again, the outer display will only be about 5.38 inches. Thus, it should draw a lot less power when used in that way.
