Following yesterday’s release of the third wave of developer betas, Apple now is rolling macOS Tahoe 26.2 public beta 3. Here’s what to expect.
Apple’s public betas have been on a weird schedule
The last few weeks have been interesting if you’re in the developer or the public beta for Apple’s operating systems.
In addition to slightly shifting the schedule of the beta releases, Apple last week released macOS Tahoe 26.2 public beta 2 at 4:00 p.m. ET, which is highly unusual.
Equally unusual was the fact that macOS and tvOS were the only operating systems to get public beta builds, even though iOS, iPadOS and watchOS had also gotten developer builds a few days prior.
Now, Apple is rolling out macOS Tahoe 26.2 public beta 3, this time alongside all its counterparts. The build number rolling out now is 25C5048a, which is the same as yesterday’s developer beta.
macOS Tahoe 26.2 will introduce the new Edge Light effect, which adds a virtual ring light to the edges of the screen for video calls, but so far, Apple hasn’t added many other features, either user-facing or under the hood. We’ll keep digging the betas and will report back if we find anything noteworthy.
