Kinetic internet review
Kinetic is a rural internet service owned by telecom company Windstream, which offers fiber, cable and DSL internet throughout its footprint. The prices for those plans vary by market, but if your address is serviceable for its fiber network, we recommend going with that. You can expect fast, symmetrical speeds and competitive introductory rates with a one- to three-year price lock. Its DSL service will offer a better value than satellite internet, but as always, there's more than meets the eye. Let's take a closer look at the details.
All Kinetic plans, including cable and fiber, are relatively cheap, and speeds can be decent, depending on what's available at your address. The cheapest Kinetic plan starts at a reasonable $25 monthly for 100Mbp, though that price will double to $50 after one year. Additionally, Kinetic plans feature unlimited data with no contract requirements, which is harder to come by in rural areas.
If the internet options in your area are limited to satellite internet or DSL internet from Kinetic, you can find better speeds and affordability from Kinetic. "Better than satellite" is all that can be said about the DSL service, however. It isn't the fastest or most reliable internet type, and low customer satisfaction scores show that Kinetic's DSL customers tend to be disgruntled with the service. Kinetic's DSL service ranked at the bottom in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index.
