The next time you search for something on YouTube, you might notice some differences, thanks to two new AI-powered tools.

The streaming video platform is rolling out a new way to display search results. While not officially related, the feature is pretty similar to Google's AI Overviews.
YouTube gave an example in a short video showcasing the feature. If you search for something like "best beaches in the Carolinas," you'll see an AI-generated carousel of videos highlighting different beaches along with AI-written descriptions on each clip.

If you search for a topic like "best noise-canceling headphones," you'll see a carousel of reviews highlighting the benefits of several headphone options. Tapping on any video opens it in a full window to the relevant section, saving you the hassle of opening a clip and tapping until you get what you want.
The difference between this and normal search is that the results appear in a "highlights" pane where you can easily tap videos and quickly find relevant information within each clip.

This feature is currently only open to YouTube Premium members on Android or iOS devices for searches related to shopping, travel, or tourism. If users like the feature, it's almost certain we'll see it roll out to more users.
