SupportApp has been one of my favorite free tools to recommend for IT teams who manage fleets of macOS devices. It gives IT teams easy access to the kind of system information that usually takes multiple steps to collect. With the new version 3.0, SupportApp undergoes a major redesign for macOS 26 (Liquid Glass), features improved accessibility, and introduces a new Configurator Mode that enables IT to build and test configurations directly within the app.

About Apple @ Work: Bradley Chambers managed an enterprise IT network from 2009 to 2021. Through his experience deploying and managing firewalls, switches, a mobile device management system, enterprise grade Wi-Fi, 1000s of Macs, and 1000s of iPads, Bradley will highlight ways in which Apple IT managers deploy Apple devices, build networks to support them, train users, stories from the trenches of IT management, and ways Apple could improve its products for IT departments.

Items have been reshaped into capsules that match the look of the redesigned Control Center, and the entire layout now uses a more modular structure. IT teams can add rows and items however they want, making it easier to tailor the experience for their organization.

Configurator mode makes setup simple

The biggest addition to v3.0 is a new Configurator Mode. It gives IT teams a visual way to build, customize, and test their deployment directly inside the app. Once you’re finished, you can export the configuration to a property list or a mobileconfig file for fast deployment through their device management service. For environments that require stricter controls, Configurator Mode can also be disabled entirely through a simple key setting.

Accessibility and functionality improvements

Accessibility has also seen a big upgrade with v3.0. SupportApp now works seamlessly with VoiceOver, Voice Control, and other systemwide macOS accessibility features so all users can benefit from it.
