iPhone 17 Pro offers a much-improved camera experience over prior models like the iPhone 16 Pro. But an Apple support document confirms that one previous Camera app feature has been removed: Night mode photos are no longer available in Portrait mode.

Every year, Apple upgrades the iPhone’s camera offerings in multiple ways. And that was definitely true this year with the iPhone 17 Pro.

iPhone 17 Pro has a new Center Stage front camera, a trio of 48MP Fusion cameras on the back, and plenty of new software features too like Dual Capture.

But curiously, users have discovered that one software feature is missing: Night mode can no longer be used while shooting in Portrait mode.

Portrait mode is a popular Camera app feature, and if you’re shooting in dark environments, it has long supported Night mode for great low-light portraits.

Per an Apple support doc though, the list of compatible models excludes iPhone 17 Pro:

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
