The new Homey Pro gets faster and smarter for Matter homes with no price increase

Today, Homey has announced the new Homey Pro 2026, and the big update is straightforward: more RAM at the same price point. If you are not already familiar with Homey Pro, it is one of the most interesting home hubs on the market. It supports Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z Wave, Wi-Fi, and even IR devices together so you can manage your entire home from one place. For people who want a hub that talks to everything and does almost all of its processing locally, Homey Pro has become a really cool option.

“We wanted a new Homey Pro to be the best smart home hub on the market,” said Stefan Witkamp, CEO of Athom, the company behind Homey. “Homey Pro Early 2023 set the bar very high, as it has been consistently delivering on power, stability, versatility, and value, even as it nears its third birthday. The only upgrade that would make sense is more RAM, which is why we decided to double it. By doubling the RAM in Homey Pro 2026, we’re giving users even more room to grow their smart homes from larger installations to more advanced automations, while our production scale ups allowed us to keep the price the same.”

The updated 2026 version of Homey Pro keeps the $399 price point as the existing model, but doubles the memory to 4GB and also upgrades to a faster processor. The new Homey Pro is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core ARMv8 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. As the smart home leans harder into Matter and more devices run local automation, extra memory becomes something of a necessity. Homey says this update should make larger setups and advanced Flows feel much faster.

What is Homey Pro?

Homey Pro is also a local smart home hub, and most of the automation processing happens inside the device, so your routines/automations continue to work even if your internet is out or a major cloud provider has an outage. Privacy is a major focus as well, since your data stays inside your home environment rather than being sent to a cloud component unless you choose to connect it to one of your cloud services.

For Apple users, the big appeal is that Homey Pro can act as a Matter bridge. You can bring Z-Wave blinds, Zigbee sensors, IR remotes, and other non-Matter accessories into the Home app as if they were native to HomeKit. That helps unify everything so you can keep using the Home app without replacing older accessories that still work perfectly, but just lack the integrations you want.

Wrap up

If you were already considering a Homey Pro, this is a great time to buy one. There are tons of news reports circling the internet about RAM costs going up due to AI data center rollouts, so having extra RAM here is a luxury, and it might get more expensive in the future. Homey has said that the new Homey Pro and Homey Pro (Early 2023 model) are both officially supported until at least June of 2031 with software updates, security patches, etc.
