Tomb Raider Returns With Catalyst and Legacy of Atlantis

Some big news came out of Thursday's Game Awards show, and among the new games revealed were two new Tomb Raiders. Lara Croft returns with a new journey, as well as a remake of her first adventure. Both titles were announced as the series prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026.

What is Tomb Raider: Catalyst?

Catalyst is the 12th Tomb Raider game and takes Lara to Northern India as she races against other treasure hunters to find the secrets of a lost ancient world. The footage from the trailer shows one of her rivals, whose men are quickly taken down by Lara before she has to escape the ruins that are about to be destroyed.

In this adventure, Lara will have some new tech to use, such as the grappling wrist strap. Catalyst is also bringing back her iconic double pistols.

Tomb Raider Catalyst comes out in 2027 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

What is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis?

Legacy of Atlantis is a remake of the very first Tomb Raider game. Like in the original, which was first released in 1996, players will travel to Peru, Greece, Egypt and a mysterious Mediterranean island. She's hunting down pieces of the Scion, which holds incredible power.

The remake will modernize the original with high-definition graphics, modern controls and other optimizations.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is due out next year for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
