visionOS 26.2 adds big change for using Apple Vision Pro on the go

Last week Apple released feature-packed updates like iOS 26.2, iPadOS 26.2, and more. New features for visionOS 26.2 appeared minimal during the beta process, but it turns out, the update actually brought a big upgrade for using Apple Vision Pro on the go.

visionOS 26.2 lets you use Vision Pro while riding in a car or on a bus

visionOS might be Apple’s software platform with the smallest user base, but it keeps receiving strong improvements nonetheless. Earlier this fall, visionOS 26 brought two key enhancements I’ve long wanted for better iPhone compatibility, a vastly improved Spatial Personas experience, and a whole lot more.

Now the latest update, visionOS 26.2, had made Vision Pro a truly on-the-go product for arguably the first time.

Travel Mode in visionOS previously enabled using Vision Pro on airplanes or trains. But in visionOS 26.2, it’s been expanded to two more areas—one of which is a major step forward.

Per Apple’s official release notes:

Travel Mode lets passengers use Apple Vision Pro on cars and busses in addition to airplanes and trains

I’m not sure who’s going to start using Vision Pro on their morning bus commute. But hey, it’s a nice feature to have regardless.

Expanding Travel Mode to support cars, however, could prove very handy for certain use cases.

Whether you’re going on a road trip, a long Uber ride, or just commute often as a passenger, visionOS 26.2 makes it possible to finally use your Vision Pro on the go.
