With the new Voice Typing Dictation feature, users can now speak naturally and have Speechify’s new Mac app turn that recording into clean text across any app on macOS. Here’s how it works.

’Your voice working on every app on your computer’

Apple Design Award winner Speechify is officially releasing a new Mac app today, featuring a headlining tool called Voice Typing Dictation.

With it, users can press Option + Z (or customize it with any other shortcut they prefer) and just start speaking naturally.

Speechify will then process that audio and turn it into a properly written, polished text, eliminating any disfluencies and filler words, such as “uhm” and “you know”. It will also apply grammar corrections where needed.

Thanks to its system-wide integration, users can dictate text into any native or third-party app they use on the Mac. This means platforms such as Slack, Apple Mail, Pages, Superhuman, WhatsApp, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Notion, and even Safari.

Thanks to recent advances in AI, Speechify says that its new Voice Typing Dictation feature helps users write up to five times faster, and that the output quality is strong enough that many users don’t feel the need to heavily edit before hitting “send”.

Here’s Speechify’s CFO, Pankaj Agarwal, on today’s release:

Voice Typing & Dictation is one of our fastest growing features at Speechify. We’re very excited to now make sure every Speechify user can use Voice Typing & Dictation in every app they use – for email, writing, messaging, and note-taking – so that our auditory operating system can be even more useful to the professional and education segments we serve.

One welcome detail in today’s announcement is that the new Voice Typing Dictation feature is bundled into Speechify’s existing subscription plans, although existing users also need to download the new Mac app.
