It’s going to be an exciting two years for iPhone users. A new report from The Information details the eight new iPhones in the works inside Apple, including the highly-anticipated iPhone Fold and iPhone.
Apple’s extensive roadmap of new iPhones
First, the report says the iPhone 17e is expected in the spring 2026. This will be an “incremental update” from the iPhone 16e and use Apple’s newest C1X modem. The report says the iPhone 17e “will feature a glass back so it can support wireless charging, one of the features consumers missed most on the iPhone 16e.” The Information confirms that this means MagSafe wireless charging support. The existing iPhone 16e supports standard Qi charging, but not magnetic charging.
Second, Apple is working on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max for fall 2026. The report says these phones will feature an under-display Face ID sensor. The front-facing camera will be relocated to the top-left of the display, as previously reported.
The iPhone 18 Pro models will also have a mechanical aperture for at least one camera. “This will allow inclusion of a new camera image sensor that can capture more light at night while preventing washed-out photos during the day,” the report says.
The overall appearance of the iPhone 18 Pro phones “will be similar to that of the iPhone 18 Pro.”
Internally, the phones will use a new chip technology from TSMC that “puts the memory chips closer to the iPhone’s core processor.”
Next, Apple is working on the iPhone Fold set for a release in fall 2026. The iPhone Fold will have an aspect ratio similar to the iPad when unfolded with a 7.7-inch display. When folded, the display will measure 5.3 inches. It will be “more wide than tall when unfolded,” the report says.
“One person involved in the project cautioned that the size of the displays could change,” the report qualifies.
Throughout development and trial production of the iPhone Fold, The Information reports that Apple is “encountering a high level of defects” in the display. This, however, is “to be expected at this stage.” The selfie camera will be located in the upper-left corner of the display alongside light, proximity, and other sensors.
