Apple is working to finalize designs for next year’s flagship iPhone lineup, and a new report says the highly anticipated iPhone Fold could have a unique shape, with an inner display that’s more wide than tall. Here are the details.

iPhone Fold aspect ratio could resemble ‘Apple’s largest iPads’ in landscape mode

Earlier today, my colleague Ben reported on several key features of the upcoming iPhone Fold, per leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS).

Shortly afterward, The Information published a wide-ranging overview of new iPhone models coming in the next couple years. That report corroborated much of what DCS said, but offered additional clarity on a key iPhone Fold feature: the display shape and size.

Similar to DCS, The Information expects an outer display that’s about 5.3 inches, and an inner display that’s around 7.7 inches.

But most notably, the new report mentions that this will translate into an inner display that’s “more wide than tall.”

Wayne Ma and Qianer Liu write:

Unlike other foldable phones made by Samsung and Google, Apple’s product will have an aspect ratio similar to that of Apple’s largest iPads when viewed in landscape mode, meaning it will be more wide than tall when unfolded. When closed, the phone will have a display that measures around 5.3 inches. When unfolded, it will sport a larger, 7.7-inch display. As on the iPhone 18 Pro models, a single selfie camera will be embedded in the top-left corner of the device, along with light, proximity and other sensors.

Apple’s two major smartphone competitors in the US, Samsung and Google, offer foldable models that are taller than they are wide—even when unfolded.
