Leaker contradicts rumors, says iPhone Air 2 will be announced in 2026

There’s been no shortage of conflicting reports about the future of the iPhone Air 2. Between talk of indefinite delays and shifting schedules, leaks have been all over the map. Now, a fresh rumor is reviving speculation that the second-generation model may not be as far off as previously thought.

Take Fixed Focus Ditigal’s word for it

According to leaker Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, Apple will debut the iPhone Air 2 at its next fall event, which typically takes place early in September.

This contradicts two recent reports from The Information. In the first, the publication said Apple had “notified engineers and suppliers that they were taking the next iPhone Air off the schedule without providing a new release date.”

The following day, The Information published a second report adding that “some Apple engineers are hoping to release a redesigned version with a second camera lens in spring 2027 alongside existing plans to release the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e at that time.”

Alongside their iPhone Air 2 claims, Fixed Focus Digital echoed earlier reports that the iPhone 17e is expected to debut at Apple’s spring event, typically held in March.

The iPhone Air 2 is expected to address two of the biggest criticisms of the first-generation model. According to The Information, Apple has gone “back to the drawing board” to redesign the device, and is now “considering” adding a second camera while also bringing the price down.

As for the iPhone 17e, it’s shaping up to be a small update over the 16e. The Information also reported that it will pack a C1X modem and “feature a glass back that supports magnetic wireless charging, one of the features consumers missed most on the iPhone 16e.”
