Smart locks are one of the best single devices for a home security upgrade. The problem is that they're also one of the most expensive, often costing above $200, which is tough for many budgets.

That's why, as I've tested dozens of locks from brands across the world, I've kept watching for locks that perform well while also clocking in at low costs. Smart lock technology continues to advance, as I've seen at CES this year with tricks like solar-charging deadbolts, but the most important features don't have to cost a ton.
