Garmin has hopped on the nutrition-tracking bandwagon, announcing at CES 2026 that it's joining apps like MyFitnessPal, Oura and Zoe Health by adding the ability to track calories and macros (protein, fat and carbohydrates) to its own Connect Plus app. Now, you can monitor your workouts, health stats and food consumption all in one place.
There are three ways to track your meals on Garmin's premium app: Search in a global database, scan a barcode or take a picture and have AI analyze the image to parse out the ingredients. Previously, users could only use the MyFitnessPal integration (which is still live) to do this through Garmin. Now, it's directly available within the app itself.
What nutrition tracking looks like in Connect Plus. Garmin
Using your tracked meals, Garmin Connect Plus provides daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports on your nutrition, along with customizable recommendations based on your activity level, average active calories, height, weight and gender. Powered by AI, Active Intelligence provides insights into how your nutrition may impact your training and overall health. These nutrition details can be added to your performance dashboard or viewed on a compatible Garmin smartwatch.
The Garmin Connect Plus app costs $7 per month or $70 per year. New customers can try the app free for 30 days. For customers who have already tried Connect Plus, Garmin is offering a 14-day free trial, allowing you to try out the new nutrition-tracking feature.
