The Apple TV streaming service kicks off its 2026 slate with the return of international thriller series Tehran. The long-delayed third season starts airing today with the first episode, with new episodes dropping each Friday through February 27.

In season three, Hugh Laurie joins the cast in the role of a South African nuclear inspector. As one of Apple’s most popular foreign language series, Tehran is also renewed for a fourth season, despite fans having to wait more than 3 years for new episodes after the season two finale.

Production on season three of Tehran was actually filmed and completed over four years ago, and was probably originally meant to come out sometime in 2023. But, Apple opted to hold the release due to the nature of its sensitive subject matter in relation to the ongoing real-world events in Israel and Palestine.

While the Gaza conflict continues even today, Apple has seemingly finally decided it has waited long enough and finally scheduled the season to air on Apple TV. (The season has actually already been broadcast in full on Israeli network KAN 11, who is a co-production partner on the show alongside Apple.)

Star Niv Sultan returns as Tamar, the Mossad hacker agent. After going rogue in the explosive finale of season two, in season three, she must find a way to re-establish alliances in the Mossad institution.

You can watch the first two seasons of Tehran on Apple TV right now, with the third season airing weekly. If you don’t already have an Apple TV subscription, you can get a free seven-day trial here.
