Beauty giant L’Oréal unveiled the Light Straight Plus Multi-Styler and LED Face Mask at CES 2026. These products utilize infrared light technology and are designed to protect your hair from heat damage and prevent signs of skin aging, respectively.

Hair styling tools are commonly known to reach high temperatures, which can risk damaging the hair cuticle and lead to breakage if used frequently. LED face masks have grown in popularity in the skincare space. It’s fitting that L’Oréal would create its own version.

Hair styling straighteners and curlers can cause damage to hair, depending on how often you use them and if you don’t use a heat protectant.

This isn’t the first time the beauty giant has experimented with infrared light, previously launching the L’Oréal AirLight Pro hairdryer in 2024. This time, it patented the near-infrared light used in the new beauty tool. L’Oréal also uses glass plates on the Light Straight Plus Multi-Styler that only heat up to 320 degrees Fahrenheit, versus traditional hair tools, which can heat up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Near-infrared light is a light spectrum that penetrates hair fibers, reshaping the molecular structure of the hair and keeping it healthier, shinier and smoother during styling. The hair tool is versatile enough to be used for straightening or curling your hair.

According to a press release from L'Oréal, instrumental tests found that the Light Straight Plus Multi-Styler works three times faster and leaves hair twice as smooth as the competition.
