The story of the Apple TV comedy The Studio has come full circle, with the actual Golden Globes ceremony last night honoring the show with the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy award, and star Seth Rogen for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. It follows major wins at the Emmys and other awards shows since the show premiered in spring 2025.
On a more serious note, Apple TV also picked up a Golden Globes win for Pluribus, with star Rhea Seehorn winning the award for best actress in a drama. This much-deserved recognition follows many years of her performances on Better Call Saul being overlooked by awards bodies.
The three wins for Apple TV came from a total of 14 nominations announced back in December. While The Studio and Pluribus converted their nominations into wins, Apple’s other sci-fi drama, Severance lost out to HBO’s The Pitt in the other drama categories.
As part of Seth Rogen’s Golden Globes acceptance speech for The Studio, he confirmed that the creators will go into production on season two in a week’s time. Given the show’s warm reception, presumably the number of people asking for cameo appearances will be even bigger than the star power on display in the first season.
The fictional Golden Globes awards show plot was one of the standout episodes of The Studio’s first season, in which studio head Matt Remick repeatedly tries to ensure that Zoe Kravitz will thank him in her speech. That episode also included appearances from Adam Scott, Zack Snyder, Aaron Sorkin and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
Writing on Pluribus season two is also underway, however expected filming dates for what Apple calls its “most watched show in Apple TV history” remains unclear. It certainly isn’t hitting viewer’s screens until 2027 at the earliest.
