Apple offers statement addressing privacy concerns for Google-powered AI features

Apple has a strong reputation for protecting user privacy. And when Apple Intelligence first rolled out, privacy was a core principle the company touted.

But now, the company has struck a deal with Google for Gemini-based models to be the foundation of future Apple Intelligence features.

Hopefully, that will result in more powerful, compelling AI features coming to the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and more in the near future.

For privacy-conscious users though, the deal raises a big question: what does it mean for privacy protections?

A joint statement from Apple and Google seeks to address that, albeit with minimal details.

From Google’s website:

Apple Intelligence will continue to run on Apple devices and Private Cloud Compute, while maintaining Apple’s industry-leading privacy standards.

This seems to imply that the exact same privacy promises available in Apple Intelligence today will extend to the Google deal too.
