Update, February 10, 2026 (10:01 AM ET): It’s been a few days since we first heard about the confusing emails Fairphone customers had been getting. The company has continued to look into these reports, and just posted a follow-up message earlier today:
Following our internal check, we can confirm that the unwarranted emails were caused by an internal automation malfunction within our emailing system, as originally suspected. We can assure you that no data breach has occurred.
That’s the same explanation we heard as likely before, and it’s good to know now that the lack of an actual hack has finally been confirmed.
