We’re again expecting a live performance by a popular singer, and Apple retail head Deirdre O’Brien has been spotted in the country …
Apple famously says that it likes to look forward rather than back, but the company still couldn’t resist marking its 50th year in business.
Apple’s 50th birthday will be on April 1, with the company promising that it will properly mark the occasion. CEO Tim Cook wrote an open letter entitled “50 Years of Thinking Different” in which he echoed words first voiced by Steve Jobs back in 1984.
At Apple, we’re more focused on building tomorrow than remembering yesterday. But we couldn’t let this milestone pass without thanking the millions of people who make Apple what it is today – our incredible teams around the world, our developer community, and every customer who has joined us on this journey. Your ideas inspire our work. Your trust drives us to do better. Your stories remind us of all we can accomplish when we think different. If you’ve taught us anything, it’s that the people crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do. So here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.
Alicia Keys performed at a celebration at Apple’s Grand Central store on Friday, and we’re expecting another by Chinese singer Chris Lee at an event tomorrow. Multiple photos have been posted on Chinese social media showing a stage being set up outside the Apple Taikoo Li Chengdu store in China.
Apple’s retail chief has been spotted in the country and it’s possible that other Apple execs will be appearing also.
Apple’s SVP of Retail + People, Deirdre O’Brien, was seen streaming on Apple’s official Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) account yesterday (3/16), and was spotted in store (Apple Nanjing East in Shanghai) as well. It is expected that she will join the celebration in Chengdu tomorrow. Some rumours also suggest that Tim Cook and other leadership will present as well.
