Here’s everything new so far
Starting with macOS 26.4, whenever the user opens an app that relies on the Rosetta 2 framework to run on Apple Silicon, the system will warn the user that Rosetta 2 will soon be going away.
Apple had already announced that macOS 27 would be the last major version to support Rosetta 2, so this seems like a way to encourage developers to prepare for the change.
macOS 26.4 also finally fixes the window resize pointer bug, where the cursor didn’t follow the window’s actual corner shape. In addition, macOS 26.4 brings back Safari’s compact tab view, which got removed with the release of macOS 26 last year.
One interesting addition to the system is the new Charge Limit setting, which lets users cap the charge limit between 80% and 100%. This has been a popular feature in third-party apps for a while, but now users will be able to adjust this setting natively.
For creators, macOS 26.4 will introduce features on Freeform that are exclusive to Creator Studio subscribers. That includes access to premium images in the Content Hub, upscaling low-resolution images, and compatibility with OpenAI’s image-generating model.
Finally, macOS 26.4 includes new emoji, including ballet dancers, distorted face, and fight cloud.
