Hot on the heels of rolling out a major update last month, Carrot Weather is back with more. A new update today adds two new features to the versatile weather app: multi-model forecasts and analysis from the Storm Prediction Center.
The new multi-model forecast feature lets you compare multiple weather simulations to see the full breadth of outcomes for any given system or forecast. Here’s how it works:
Compare multiple weather simulations to see the full range of possible outcomes. These “ensemble” forecasts run major global weather models many times with tiny variations in the starting conditions to see how much they align (or diverge) over time. If the models closely agree, confidence is higher; if they spread out, the forecast is much more uncertain. Ensemble forecasts are also great for highlighting best- and worst-case scenarios, especially for rain and snow totals.
Meanwhile, Carrot Weather also now includes data from the Storm Prediction Center for severe storms and wildfires in the United States:
Get expert analysis on the risk of severe storms and wildfires with outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center. With storm and wildfire season ramping up across the U.S., these discussions provide valuable context beyond standard forecasts, including the reasoning behind potential severe weather events. (U.S. only.)
Carrot Weather is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. Carrot is my go-to weather app, so I’m always happy to see it keep getting even better and more powerful.
