Apple TV’s Cape Fear is a new thriller series coming this summer from producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, and the first trailer has just debuted.
Cape Fear is a psychological horror thriller with major talent attached
Apple TV is building out a strong summer release schedule, featuring the return of Ted Lasso, a new Anya Taylor-Joy series, new seasons for sci-fi hits, and more.
But one of the standouts is undoubtedly Cape Fear.
The series is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. That high-profile duo’s involvement is no accident, as the new series is inspired by the 1991 Cape Fear film they made together.
Cape Fear premieres on Friday, June 5 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through July 31.
Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Patrick Wilson lead the series, which Apple calls a “psychological horror thriller”—and the first trailer very much leans into the ‘horror’ vibes.
Here’s the plot summary, followed by Apple’s new trailer:
Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.
