iOS 27 is set to be packed with AI upgrades, headlined by the new Siri app. But a Bloomberg report today says iOS 27 might also upgrade the iPhone’s keyboard with a new autocorrect feature.
iPhone’s keyboard in iOS 27 could offer ‘alternative word’ suggestions as part of autocorrect expansion
Recently in iOS 26.4, Apple rolled out some changes to the iPhone’s keyboard that it says improves accuracy.
Now, per a new Bloomberg report, it sounds like even bigger keyboard updates might be coming with iOS 27.
Mark Gurman writes at Bloomberg:
Apple has explored an updated system keyboard that expands autocorrect by offering alternative words, the people said. It uses an approach that’s similar to tools like Grammarly. A final decision on releasing the keyboard tool hasn’t been made. The company improved its keyboard algorithms in iOS in recent days, aiming to provide a better autocorrect experience.
Some of this functionality doesn’t sound too different from what iOS offers now. But presumably, the updated iOS 27 keyboard will be more intelligent and offer more useful suggestions than it does now.
These tidbits on the keyboard update were part of a broader report covering new Siri capabilities, like the ability to handle multiple requests in a single query.
Though not stated explicitly, it seems likely the new autocorrect feature could rely on some form of Apple Intelligence data. Thus, it may be limited to AI-capable iPhone models.
iOS 27 will be fully unveiled on June 8 at WWDC, and with every new report, it sounds very much like the kind of AI-packed release many users have been waiting for.
