Why This Matters

The prolonged beta testing period for Samsung's One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 highlights the company's cautious approach to software stability before a full release. With only a few more betas expected, the release of the stable version may be imminent, signaling a significant update for Galaxy users and the broader Android ecosystem.

Key Takeaways

TL;DR Samsung got One UI 8.5 betas for the Galaxy S25 started last December.

The most recent, One UI 8.5 beta 8, arrived the last week of March.

A tipster now reports we have two more betas to go, both landing later in April.

When in the world could we hope for the S25 to actually get One UI 8.5 stable?

Over on not-Twitter-anymore, leaker Tarun Vats shares what he calls an exclusive find concerning Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta plans for the Galaxy S25. According to his info, Samsung is planning to release two more One UI 8.5 betas across April: Beta 9 — expected around April 9th

Beta 10 — expected around April 20th That roughly two-week cadence would fit with Samsung’s recent beta schedule, so this sounds sensible enough on face value.

Well, what about an 11th beta, then? According to Vats, this is as far as Samsung’s planning to take us, and we should be getting “a total of 10 One UI 8.5 beta updates.” At least colloquially, that reads as 10 betas total, though if we’re being pedantic, beta 2 was the first One UI 8.5 beta update, so could we possible be getting 11?
