TL;DR Samsung’s expected to introduce a new, extra-wide foldable this year.
We’ve already started to get an idea for the shape of this so-called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide thanks to some leaks and early CAD renders.
Now a new find in Samsung firmware offers yet another look at how this new screen is taking form.
By most accounts, there’s a new foldable phone from Samsung on the way. We’ve been hearing rumblings about a new, wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold joining the next generations of the standard Fold and Flip — perhaps as a response to Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone. But so far, we’ve yet to actually lay eyes on the hardware. That’s still not changing today, but we do have one fresh new piece to add to the puzzle.

Despite still not having seen any actual photos of this supposed Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide (no one seems super confident on Samsung’s ultimate branding), there’s still been a fair amount of evidence to help set our expectations. And now we’ve got just a little bit more to check out, as SamMobile shares this imagery it reportedly extracted from the phone’s One UI 9 firmware:
