Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is arguably one of the hardest games to finish, but one crazy player decided that it wasn’t hard enough and decided to defeat all the enemies using only dung pie, i.e., rat excrement. Going through the route poop isn’t as simple as picking up dung pies and hurling them at the enemies, though. Instead, ymfah shows us the deliberate process they went through on their YouTube channel to get the five dung pies naturally available in the game.

The player began the challenge by making the DragonRider fall to its death — this is the only boss that wasn’t killed with poop since the player didn’t have access to those yet. However, it was still crucial as it gave them a windfall of souls that allowed them to purchase the Silvercat Ring and enter the Gutter from which you can find the five dung pies. But because these are the only dung pies you can find on the map, and you will need more to defeat your enemies, you will have to “invest” them.
It’s after this step that ymfah runs into a problem, so they decided to redo the challenge. Instead of going through the Gutter, which they described in the Reddit thread as a red herring, they tried several other methods. In the end, they had to resort to a lot of creativity, spawning an enemy in the area where the rats are and have it unintentionally kill the rats while attacking you. From there, they acquired a rat tail, which they offered to the Rat King, finally giving them the option to produce dung pies. These are quite expensive, though, at 600 souls a piece.

In the end, ymfah had to spend a lot of time looking for ways to acquire poop without using any other weapon. After a ton of exploration and experiments, they finally found a way to farm dung pies. From there, they started defeating the bosses one by one by just using poop. Most of the enemies get the toxic effect with 3 hits of the dung pie (or, as the player calls it, minimum poop to toxic or MPTT), while the minimum poop to kill (MPTK) varies between 9 and 42.
Dark Souls II is already known for being hard to beat, and ymfah made it even more complicated by limiting themselves to just using dung pies. This might become frustrating for many players, but it also showed the ingenuity and creativity of the select few who wanted to embark on the great journey of completing the game using rat poop alone.
