Why This Matters

Apple's updated Liquid Glass design gallery highlights how third-party developers are leveraging this new UI language to create more natural and responsive experiences across Apple platforms. The showcase underscores the growing adoption of Liquid Glass, emphasizing its impact on app aesthetics and usability, which benefits both developers and consumers by enhancing app interactions and visual appeal.

Key Takeaways

Apple has updated its developer website this week to spotlight third-party apps using Liquid Glass to “create natural, responsive experiences across Apple platforms.”

This is the second version of Apple’s design gallery for Liquid Glass, following the initial gallery debut in November. Since then, more apps have adopted the new Liquid Glass design language, while both developers and Apple alike have also made refinements to the overall implementation.

“In the latest edition of our new design gallery, find out how teams of all sizes are taking advantage of the new design and Liquid Glass to create natural, responsive experiences across Apple platforms,” Apple says.

One of the apps highlighted by Apple in the new design gallery is Carrot Weather:

The sarcastic robot with dreams of world domination may be the same, but a fresh new look is evident throughout this one-of-a-kind weather app, especially when panning around the map on the Radar tab. The app is simpler too: Developer Brian Mueller reduced the number of tabs in the bottom toolbar for a cleaner experience. (He also introduced a full musical, which technically isn’t about design, but it’s still remarkable.)

Denim, my favorite app for creating playlist art for Apple Music, also gets a shoutout:

In this playlist cover design app, Liquid Glass toolbar controls blend nicely into the dark canvas. The app’s undo and redo buttons adopt the new design, and text labels on the cover art get a fresh appearance.

Other apps in the Liquid Glass design gallery include Tasks, GoodLinks, AllTrails, Fantastical, and more.
