Dark Matter is one of the many strong sci-fi series on Apple TV, joining hits like Severance, Pluribus, Foundation, Silo, and more.
The series premiered in 2024 with a strong first season based on the popular novel by Blake Crouch.
Now, Apple has just announced its highly anticipated return.
Dark Matter season 2 premieres on Friday, August 28 with one episode, followed by weekly releases through October 30.
The first season of Dark Matter covered the source material from the novel, and there are no sequels. So for some book fans, the existence of a second season might cause concern.
Fortunately though, Dark Matter season 2 is showrun and co-written by the novel’s author, Crouch. So the new story comes directly from the mind behind the hit book.

Season two picks up with the Dessens as they settle into a quiet life in a world that finally seems safe until the unimaginable forces them to run once again. As Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela’s (Connelly) growing paranoia pushes her to the brink, threatening to tear their fragile stability apart.
