Why This Matters

The dominance of iPhone models, especially the iPhone 17 lineup, in the top-selling smartphone charts of Q4 2025 underscores Apple's strong market position and consumer preference for its latest devices. This trend highlights the ongoing competition among major manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi, shaping the future landscape of the smartphone industry. For consumers, it signals continued innovation and flagship offerings from Apple that are resonating globally.

Key Takeaways

A new Counterpoint Research report shows that the iPhone 17 lineup led the market in Q4 2025, with its core models taking the top three spots and anchoring Apple’s presence in the top 10 best-selling smartphones for the period. Here are the details.

iPhone 17 Pro Max led sales during Q4 2025

Counterpoint Research’s new report shows that Apple took five spots among the top 10 best-selling smartphones in the last quarter of 2025, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max leading the list, followed by the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro.

The iPhone 16 came in fourth, while the iPhone 16e landed in eighth. The iPhone Air did not appear in the top 10.

Samsung secured four positions with the Galaxy A56 (#5), the Galaxy A36 (#6), the Galaxy A07 (#7), and the Galaxy S25 at (#10), while Xiaomi rounded out the list in ninth place with the Redmi A5.

Counterpoint says that the “top 10 smartphones contributed 23% of global sales for the quarter,” with the iPhone 17 Pro Max alone accounting for 5%.

Throughout the year, Apple consistently kept iPhone models in Counterpoint’s top 10 list, firmly securing the top three spots, while Samsung and Xiaomi traded places on a quarter-by-quarter basis, except for Q3, in which Xiaomi didn’t appear.

Counterpoint’s report also showed that the iPhone 16 was the only iPhone model to appear in the top 10 throughout the entire year, leading every ranking except the last one.
