GoKawiilLike typical monitor generational changes, Sony's second-generation 27-inch OLED esports monitor makes a few notable, though not critical, enhancements over its predecessor, the M10S.
Big numbers impress, so the M10S 2 bumps the refresh rate to 480Hz at 1440p and 720Hz at 720p in its 24.5-inch mode.
It also improves on its predecessor with an additional antiglare film atop the existing matte surface and adds more tilt.
The most interesting update appears to be the Motion Blur Reduction implementation, which compensates for the usual brightness decrease in MBR modes by selectively boosting brightness when a drop would be most noticeable -- when a pixel is illuminated continuously across frames. I find random brightness changes really distracting. If you do too, that may offset the claimed benefit of improved image clarity.
Otherwise, the display remains the same, with features like HDR support and FPS Pro modes that can emphasize player outlines to make them easier to spot quickly, as well as the simulation of an old-school Twisted Nematic panel.
The price remains $1,100, and it's slated to ship later this year.
