After two weeks of disappointment, Real Madrid will be looking for victory on Tuesday as it hosts Alavés, a team fighting to avoid relegation.
Real comes into this game with only a mathematical chance of winning the title after a run of four La Liga games without a win -- a poor streak that has allowed rival Barcelona to open up a nine-point lead at the top of the table. That run, coupled with the UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich last week, means Los Blancos' head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has a battle on his hands to salvage some pride in the remaining fixtures.
They face an Alavés team that will be determined to pull off an upset here today, with Quique Sánchez Flores' crew currently in a perilous 17th spot in the standings. Just one point separates them from the relegation zone.
Real Madrid takes on Alavés at the Estadio Bernabéu on Tuesday, April 21. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. CET local time, which is 3:30 p.m. ET or 12:30 p.m. PT in the US and Canada, 8:30 p.m. BST in the UK and 5:30 a.m. AEST in Australia on Wednesday morning.
