Apple’s upcoming Siri overhaul got a moment of stage time during Google’s Cloud Next ’26 opening keynote today.
Google highlights Apple Foundation Model and Apple Intelligence during keynote
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stood in front of an Apple logo on stage today where he touted having the company as a key customer.
“Earlier this year, we announced a monumental partnership with one of the world’s most iconic brands that will bring the power of our technology to users around the world,” Kurian said.
“We’re collaborating with Apple as their preferred cloud provider to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models based on Gemini technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming later this year.”
Apple hasn’t specified when the new Siri will arrive beyond sometime in 2026. However, we now expect the first Gemini-powered Apple Intelligence and Siri features to be a key part of iOS 27. Apple is expected to release the software update this fall.

Google first confirmed the deal with Apple in a joint statement released on January 12. Apple is expected to reveal the first results of the new partnership at WWDC 2026 on June 8.
Apple is expected to deliver the more capable version of Siri it first revealed at WWDC 2024 and expected to release as part of iOS 18. Instead, those features won’t arrive until iOS 27. (Apple switched iOS version numbers last year, using iOS 26 instead of iOS 19.) Developers and public beta testers should be able to kick the tires on the new features in June and July ahead of the official release in September.
The new Siri overhaul is rumored to include a standalone Siri app, persistent chat logs, and a more traditional chatbot-like experience. Siri may also be able to parse multiple actions from a single command.
