GoKawiilAs this year's redesigned Formula One cars speed around the track in Monaco this weekend, you can catch a glimpse of them in an unlikely place: Apple's Maps app.
During the F1 Monaco Grand Prix happening June 5 to 7, Apple has reactivated its Detailed City Experience for the city of Monte Carlo, which shows the race course, turn markers, grandstands, pit garages and the finish line.
The company built out the view for the 2025 race, and this year made a few changes. The track itself -- which winds directly through the streets and buildings of Monaco -- now appears dark gray instead of light red, and the race cars that appear along the track match the coloring of this year's teams. (They're just there for visual interest, alas -- their placements don't reflect actual race positions.)
That includes detailed 3D renderings of landmarks such as the Casino de Monte-Carlo and Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo, with day and night-lit versions.

The Circuit de Monaco was Apple's first F1 Maps overlay last year. Since then, it has also created detailed versions of Grand Prix street races in Las Vegas, Melbourne, Montreal and Miami that have been activated for the days when the race comes to town. Apple is heavily invested in Formula One now that Apple TV is the US broadcast channel for the elite international motor racing series.
Following the template of other city experience upgrades, the Monaco map adds plenty of other details, from road markings to bike lanes. And if you're attending the race in person on the Côte d'Azur, Apple Maps could be an invaluable tool for getting around, with real-time information such as road closures, footbridges and restroom locations.
