Why This Matters

The upcoming MacBook Ultra signifies a major leap in Apple's laptop lineup, introducing a thinner design, a new M6 chip family, and the first-ever touchscreen and OLED display in a Mac. These innovations could reshape user expectations and set new standards for performance and display quality in the industry.

#2: M6 chip family

A new family of M6 chips is coming later this year, and it looks like MacBook Ultra could be the first model to feature them.

We’re expecting larger-than-usual updates with the M6 generation, as it’s being built on a new 2nm process with other advancements also coming to the iPhone’s A20 Pro chip.

At a minimum, M6 Pro and M6 Max chips will likely be available in MacBook Ultra. But it’s possible the standard M6 chip will be an option too.

#3: Touchscreen, the first in a Mac
