The wait is over. Almost 13 years after the last mainline Grand Theft Auto game, preorders for Grand Theft Auto 6 went live at midnight local time Thursday. Rockstar Games announced the base game will cost $80 and the Ultimate Edition of the game, filled with personalized weapons, vehicles and more, will cost $100.
This single game has caused a seismic shift in the gaming landscape of 2026. Once Rockstar announced the game would be released on Nov. 19 -- after a few delays -- every other gaming studio has avoided the month like the plague.
August, September and October are packed with at least 30 releases across those months, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on Aug. 27, Marvel's Wolverine on Sept. 15 and Gears of War: E-Day on Oct. 6. But November? According to GameRant, only Godzilla is willing to brave going up against GTA 6. Everyone seems to be expecting GTA 6 to hit the market with the size and force of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, and they're all trying to stay clear of the blast zone.
You can preorder the game at the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and other online storefronts. I just hope all the preorder storefronts don't crash. (They definitely will.)
