Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Rumor Roundup: Wider and Ultra Phones May Be Coming

Why This Matters

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 signifies continued innovation in foldable smartphones, potentially offering wider and more versatile designs that could influence future industry standards. Its anticipated release and features highlight Samsung's commitment to leading the foldable market, impacting both consumer choices and competitive strategies in the tech industry.

Key Takeaways

Even though Samsung revealed its flagship Galaxy S26 lineup in February this year, it's not done unveiling new phones just yet. The company is likely to debut a new line of folding phones sometime soon, with Samsung already teasing new Z Fold and Z Flip phones in cryptic social media videos. Rumors are pointing to a July 22 event in London, in which Samsung could reveal a new line of foldable phones alongside wearable products such as the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Glasses.

One of those foldables will likely be a new Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is said to be the successor to last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7. Since that phone won high praise as one of the top Android book-style foldables on the market, driven by its thinner design, anticipation is high for how the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will shape up. This could include a variant with a new wider design for its external display.

There are already plenty of rumors and purported leaks about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its variations. Here's everything we know about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 so far.

Release date and pricing

While Samsung has not yet confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event, there are reports pointing to a London launch on July 22. According to Korea Economic TV and Seoul Economic Daily, the Z Fold and Flip series could debut later this month as part of the company's annual summer Galaxy Unpacked.

We haven't heard anything about its supposed price just yet, but we're suspecting that it might be more than the $2,000 Galaxy Z Fold 7.

That's because Samsung increased the price of the higher storage versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 this year, a mere nine months after its release. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 with 1TB of storage went from $2,420 to $2,500 and the 512GB variant went from $2,120 to $2,200. As the memory shortage crisis has already led other manufacturers including Apple to raise the price of its products, we're speculating that the same could happen to Samsung.
